The Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC) has approved the USPS' proposed prices which the USPS has said it will implement August 29, 2021.
The full PRC decision can be found here: https://www.prc.gov/docs/119/119291/Order%20No.%205937.pdf.
Although it approved the USPS' proposed prices, the PRC did order the USPS to file within 90 days a proposed methodology to support the USPS' proposed changes to First-Class Mail Nonautomation presort and price structure. It is assumed that in the interim, the proposed structure and prices filed by the USPS will be implemented and any changes that result from any methodology change in that rulemaking would take effect in a future price change. We will provide an update if anything changes on that issue.
The PRC in its decision reiterated that final pricing decisions, including the implementation date, are made by the USPS Board of Governors. Many had submitted comments pushing for a delay in the proposed August 29, 2021 implementation date, but the PRC said the USPS' proposed implementation meets the applicable laws.
